My background is rooted in the arts. I studied at New York University's Tisch School of the Arts and the Lee Strasberg Institute. Ultimately, I received my BA from NYU's Gallatin School of Individualized Study. I also worked for ten years at NYU's teaching fine art galleries. I then completed an MFA in fiction writing from Brooklyn College.
I also spent time working in the social sector at the Peter F. Drucker Foundation for Nonprofit Management. The mission of the organization was to encourage and teach nonprofit leaders to see themselves as "life size," and to perform as equals to leaders of business and government.
My training as a therapist came from the National Psychological Association for Psychoanalysis Training Institute. I am a member of the Psychoanalytic Referral Service of the Theodor Reik Clinical Center for Psychotherapy; The National Psychological Association for Psychoanalysis Training Institute and Association; and I am nationally certified as a psychoanalyst by the National Association for the Advancement of Psychoanalysis. I am also a member therapist with Identity House. I was formerly a staff therapist at the Washington Square Institute for Psychotherapy and Mental Health.
